Celebrating Ten Years of Putting the Brakes on Breast Cancer
During the month of October, over 100 independent auto repair shops across the U.S. will be raising funds to support breast cancer vaccine research through the “Brakes for Breasts” program. The fundraising event is celebrating its tenth anniversary in 2020, and nine Cincinnati repair shops, including Evan’s Auto Care in Blue Ash, will be participating. One hundred percent of the proceeds benefit the Cleveland Clinic’s breast cancer vaccine research, and Brakes for Breasts has raised over $941,000 since 2011.
Brakes for Breasts is an organization that unites the hands of Independent Auto Repair Shops during the month of October.
The participating Repair Shop provides their customers with free brake pads and the customer simply pays for the labor and any other parts that may be needed. The shop then donates 10% of that total to the Breast Cancer Vaccine Research Fund.
“We are on the verge of testing our breast cancer vaccine in clinical trials, and philanthropy has been the foundation of this progress. Without the extensive and generous support I have received from Brakes for Breasts, I would have had to end my research on immune prevention of breast cancer several years ago,” said Vincent K. Tuohy, Ph.D. The Cleveland Clinic is hoping to begin Phase 1 trials of a vaccine in 2021.
This is the first year that Evan’s Auto Care in Blue Ash will be participating, and the entire team is eager to contribute to a great cause.
“We’re excited to be participating in Brakes for Breasts this year,” said Evan Brodof, owner of Evan’s Auto Care. “We love to help when we can, and we’re hoping to make a substantial difference in the fight against breast cancer.”
Evan’s Auto Care is located at 9190 Plainfield Rd. and appointments can be made by calling 513-791-9761 or online by clicking the button below.
